Robert Kelly

Experience

Robert Kelly is Managing Director of XTS Energy LLC and an experienced energy industry executive with more than three decades of experience in corporate leadership, energy development, investment, and capital formation. Throughout his career, Kelly has been involved in the development of renewable energy and natural gas projects. He was a founding member of DKRW Energy LLC, where he co-led the development of more than 900 megawatts of wind energy. Earlier in his career, while serving as a senior executive at a major energy company, he founded a wind energy company that later became GE Wind Energy. He also helped establish a solar energy company through a joint venture with Amoco that became part of BP Solar. Kelly has extensive experience in energy investment and project development. He has served as commercial lead or co-lead in raising more than $4.5 billion in capital from private equity investors, strategic investors, and commercial banks for energy projects. He has also held senior leadership positions in the energy sector, including serving as chair of Mexico Pacific Limited, LLC, which is developing a large-scale liquefied natural gas project on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University. He also serves as an Executive Professor at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
